Through sound recordings, an encounter with the memories of social movements–journeys, migrations, escapes, returns, and border crossings—is created.– As one walks, the bond between movement and sound becomes meaningful and key narrative elements appear along the conversation and listening gestures, awakening our willingness to share and listen to our experiences of movements. This collective listening and moving allows for co-creating meaning, fostering identity and community belonging, which is an important aspect of the use, role, and power of radio in South America.

‘La Nostalgioteca’ is the name of an artistic methodology designed by Noís Radio. It is an outdoor radio walk where sound plays a conversation-starter role, as well as acts as a memory connector, highlighting topics such as travel, movement, and migration.

On this occasion, two days of soundwalks are presented. The leitmotif of day one is focused on actions like going, drifting, or leaving, and day two is focused on actions like staying and remaining. Participants are invited to take the walk while listening to sounds and audio recordings of testimonials about migration and movement. Participants are prompted to listen from conceptual and bodily ‘listening points’. Based on what they have heard, they can share their own stories, sounds, sensations, or memories. The walks are also live audio-streamed online via red.radiolibre.cc and recorded.
