These three Brazilian short films represent speculative stories—digital, sci-fi, and ancestral—of travesti. A particular Latin American term, travesti can be used for anyone who identifies or presents herself as female (especially those assigned male at birth): a feminine subject position. From friends finding each other in the digital game metaverse, trans cyborgs in the midst of authoritarian political regimes, and notions of the trans divine worshipped by all, each film offers another perspective. Prior to the screening, a conversation between Naya de Souza and Sarnt Utamachote expands on the role of trans/non-binary people in cinema and how humour can be used as a tool to highlight and question social issues, especially in the context of Germany.
