With the HKW on the Road initiative, Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) expands its radius of action in the city. To this end, it cooperates with art institutions, spaces, and projects that work at the grassroots level of the cultural landscape and make a significant contribution to the diversity and dynamism of Berlin’s cultural scene. In this cooperation, HKW sees itself as a partner seeking to create a common platform. HKW on the Road wishes to strengthen the cultural networks in the city, cross-connect their programmes and audiences, and deepen mutual appreciation. The programme takes place in Berlin in cooperation with Berlin Mondiale, SAVVY Contemporary, and SİNEMA TRANSTOPIA.
Berlin Mondiale is a network of artists and cultural workers working in the context of migration, asylum, and exile. It initiates collaborative projects that strengthen cultural participation and make social diversity visible. Within the framework of HKW on the Road, various intervention formats in public space are planned.
The art space SAVVY Contemporary has developed the four-part event series Re-Mixing the Stage: Circular Listening Sessions for HKW on the Road, which takes place at various locations.
SİNEMA TRANSTOPIA, the transnational space for film culture, art, knowledge, and neighbourhood organises the film and discussion series DEEP CUTS as part of HKW on the Road.
