The fight for gender equality and the recognition of diverse gender identities has made significant progress in recent years. At the same time, there has been a worrying increase in sexist, homophobic, transphobic, and interphobic attitudes, which are gaining widespread traction particularly via online channels. Masculinist influencers such as Andrew Tate—who espouses anti-feminist, anti-diversity, and extreme right-wing views—are particularly popular among young men.
In this training course, educational professionals gain an overview of the key players and dynamics within this scene. We’ll examine why these narratives seem attractive to many young people, how they spread online, and which social factors favour them. The main focus is on educational strategies for action: What interventions can be effective in everyday education, and which counterarguments are helpful? How can an anti-discriminatory attitude be combined with concrete competence?
This training course creates a mistake-friendly space for exchange, reflection, and collegial consultation.
Note: As part of the training course, content containing sexist, sexualised, and racist statements will be shown.
This event is recognized as teacher training by the Berlin Senate Department for Education, Youth and Family Affairs. Participants receive a certificate of attendance for submission to their school management upon request.
