The closing event of the opening weekend of Echos der Bruderländer is a karaoke session with the Spicy Ginkgo Collective. The audience is invited to choose songs that are connected to personal experiences, to talk about them, and to share their own experiences by singing together.

The Spicy Ginkgo Collective, consisting of the artists Meilan, Thủy-Tiên Nguyễn, and Quang Nguyễn-Xuân, creates spaces that enable moments of empowerment and community. The focus is on building sustainable relationships that are geared towards processes rather than results.

The practice of karaoke singing thrives on such performative exchange processes. It is often directly linked to a politics of cultural self-preservation within marginalized communities. Karaoke enables both the transfer of knowledge and the expression of wishes and stories that would otherwise remain hidden. These stories are discussed during the event before the participants sing together. The Spicy Ginkgo Collective particularly welcomes BIPoC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour) and those with connections to the so-called brother countries.
