nora chipaumire is an artist. She is a product of colonial education for Black native Africans and has pursued her studies at the University of Zimbabwe (law) and at Mills College in Oakland (dance). chipaumire’s latest works are NEHANDA (2022), a large-scale opera; afternow (2021), a sound system installation; and #PUNK 100% POP *NIGGA (2018), a three-part live performance album. Her long-term research project nhaka, a technology-based practice and process accompanying her artistic work, investigates the nature of Black bodies and the products of their imaginations. She lives and works in New York, Harare, and Berlin.
