Mei Liu is an interdisciplinary artist. Trained in documentary filmmaking and artistic research, her practice is an exercise in world-making, through performance, workshops, collective gatherings, and film. Her works are process-driven, polyphonic, and communal, rooted in the body as a site where the spiritual and the political converge. Mei is currently developing MY BODY IS A RESONANCE CHAMBER, a project that came to her in a dream in which she swallowed an SD card. Combining performance, collective constellations, and spatial installation, it builds on first-hand encounters and historical research materials to draw out the body’s subterranean memories that language fails to communicate.
