Polish poet and essayist Krzysztof Siwczyk is the author of seventeen collections of poems and six books of literary criticism, essays, and prose. He is a laureate of the Kościelski Foundation Award, the Gdynia Literary Award in the essay category, the Silesius Poetry Award, and the Václav Burian Audience Award. He also played the main roles in two feature films: Wojaczek (1999), directed by Lech Majewski,  and Wyexpony (2010),  directed by Adam Sikora. In Germany, he has published three books: Offener Brief  [Open Letter] (translated by Bernhard Hartmann) (2023); Auf nächtlicher Reise [Travelling by night] (translated by Artur Becker) (2022); and Im Reich der Mitte [In the middle kingdom] (translated by Andre Rudolph) (2007).
