Gianni Jovanovic is a political performer, presenter and author. The son of a Roma family, he was forced into an arranged marriage at the age of 14 from which two children were born before coming out as homosexual in his early 20s. His book Ich, ein Kind der kleinen Mehrheit [I, a Child of the Small Majority] was published in 2022. Together with Oyindamola Alashe, he organised the show We Art Here, which provides a stage for newcomers from the BIPOC community. In 2023, he co-hosted the award-winning show Drag Race Germany on Paramount+. Gianni is the founder of the Queer Roma association and regularly speaks on panels about antiziganism, intersectionality and toxic masculinity. In 2025 he became an ambassador for the International Weeks Against Racism. Gianni lives and works in Cologne.
