Carol Barreto (1980, Santo Amaro, Bahia, Brazil) is a Black woman, practitioner of Candomblé, and holds a PhD in Culture and Society. She is Professor in the Department of Gender and Feminism Studies at Federal University of Bahia and developed the concept of modativismo (fashion-activism). Barreto’s work has received international visibility in catwalks of Luanda; Paris, Dakar; and art galleries in Rio de Janeiro; São Paulo; New York; Salvador; Chicago; and Toronto, 2016.Salvador, 2017 Barreto lives and works in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil.
