Anette Hoffmann is a researcher, curator, and artist whose work engages with sound archives and audio-visual collections as sources of colonial history. She has worked at the Archive and Public Culture Research Initiative at the University of Cape Town, had a Lise Meitner Fellowship at Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien. Among other institutions she has worked at the Institute for African Studies at the University of Cologne. Her recent book publications are Knowing by Ear (2024) and Listening to Colonial History (2023).
