Grada Kilomba (1968, Lisbon, Portugal) is a transdisciplinary artist whose works draw on memory, trauma, gender, and post-colonialism, interrogating concepts of knowledge, power, and violence. She holds a Doctorate in Philosophy from Freie Universität Berlin and has been awarded an Honoris Causa Doctorate by ISPA, Lisbon, in 2023. She has also lectured internationally at several universities . Kilomba has participated in La Biennale de Lubumbashi VI, 2019; the 10th Berlin Biennale, 2018; Documenta 14, Kassel, 2017; and the Bienal de São Paulo, 2016. In recent years, she has presented her work at Somerset House, London, 2022; Norval Art Foundation, Cape Town, 2022; the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma, Helsinki, 2022; and Palais de Tokyo, Paris, 2021, among other international venues. She is the author of Plantation Memories (2008). She lives and works in Berlin.
