Sitar meets steel drum, tabla meets conga: The Indian diaspora has also left its traces in the Caribbean – in the cuisine, the culture and especially in the music.

One of Trinidad and Tobago’s most popular forms of urban pop music is called “Chutney Soca.” Traditional Indian music is also cultivated by the community and crossed with the local sonic cuisine. Formed in 1994, the nine member band around the sitar virtuoso Mungal Patasar unites Indian and Caribbean vibes.
