Please note: this route is less than one kilometre long.

Leave Hauptbahnhof heading south via the Washingtonplatz exit and head straight across the square towards Rahel-Hirsch-Strasse. Cross the street at the traffic light and take the pedestrian bridge, Gustav-Heinemann-Brücke, over the river.

Once across, turn right onto Ludwig-Erhard-Ufer, the pathway through the gardens. Take the stairs down to Bettina-von-Arnim-Ufer, the footpath along the river.

Follow the pathway beyond the grounds of the Federal Chancellery (Bundeskanzleramt) on the left until you see the river terrace of Weltwirtschaft, HKW’s restaurant. Walk to the end of the terrace and enter through the glass doors underneath the neon HKW sign.

Alternatively, you can take a slightly longer but step-free route:

Leave Hauptbahnhof in the same way and cross Gustav-Heinemann-Brücke and then carry on walking straight ahead through the park, crossing Otto-von-Bismarck-Alle. Carry on through the pedestrianized square in front of the Federal Chancellery (Bundeskanzleramt) building. When you reach the corner of Paul-Löbe-Allee, turn right and head straight ahead. At the end of the road, take a left and then turn right onto the ramp that leads up to the Nawal El Saadawi Entrace or continue straight to the Spree entrance right past the restaurant
