As diverse as the titles on this year's shortlist are, they are all dedicated to a threatened self that also shows itself to be a resistant self. One that holds onto itself, unwilling to surrender unseen and unheard to the cycle of violence in this world.

We would like to invite you to the announcement of the shortlist of the International Literature Prize 2025. The six nominated titles of this year's prize year will be presented on 27 May at 18:00 in the Forough Farrokhzad Garden of HKW.

For this year's edition of the Internationaler Literaturpreis, 61 publishers submitted a total of 118 books translated into German from 29 languages. The six books shortlisted will be announced in the presence of the nominated translators and members of the jury.

As part of a reading performance, actress Lara-Sophie Milagro will read excerpts from the titles in the German translations. In addition, excerpts will be read in the original languages. The evening will be hosted by Maria-Christina Piwowarski. The event will be accompanied by music from Turi Leng Seong Agostino.

The International Literature Prize award ceremony will take place on 17 July at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt.
