HKW for the little ones on big themes: this year we are once again offering free guided exhibition tours for daycare centres and primary school classes.

As part of the exhibition and research project Tirailleurs: Trials and Tribulations. From Cannon Fodder to Avant-Garde—The Forgotten Soldiers Who Freed Europe (21 March–14 June) the guided tours will focus on themes of peace and questions of belonging.

Together with Lisa Vasvari from the Cultural Education team, the groups explore selected works in the exhibition are addressed in an age-appropriate way: from murals to sculptures to embroidered pieces.

The guided tours are aimed at day care groups as well as school classes and are suitable for children aged 3 to 8 years old.

The exhibition Tirailleurs: Trials and Tribulations considers the role of the African soldiers who served in the armies of the European powers. These so-called Tirailleurs played an important part in the liberation of France and Europe from Nazi Germany during World War II. However, their stories have often been marginalized and forgotten, up until today. HKW seeks to address this gap.

Tours last around 60 minutes and can be booked at 10:00 or 11:00 on the following dates: 15.4. // 22.4. // 29.4. // 6.5. // 13.5. // 20.5. // 3.6.

The offer is free of charge.
