The history of crips is a history of care, solidarity, resistance, and self-assertion. Their legacy is not a side note but part of a collective history and present. For nearly a decade, Steven Solbrig has been portraying crips and queers, in an ongoing, fragmentary, and connected process. crip ʞin is a long-term work, an open, photographic project for those, who are, who have been and those to come. As part of School of Quilombismo: Crip Epistemologies, Solbrig invites participants to take part in brief, open photo sessions and asks three questions designed to evoke a gentle, joyful, or proud memory. The resulting photos and answers are collected and incorporated into the Crip Archive.
