As one of the leading vocalists of frafra-gospel in northern Ghana, Florence Adooni is highly influential and known as the queen of the genre. She has released several albums and also has collaborated with musicians like kologo virtuoso Guy One and multi-instrumentalist Jimi Tenor experimenting with genres such as funk, afrobeat, and Nu jazz. Adooni’s 2021 debut solo album Mam Pe’ela Su’ure, released with Berlin’s Philophon label, mixes her vocal history with highlife, Afrobeat, and West African polyrhythms, introducing audiences to an innovative sound.
