Club of Heimaten: Black Archive Germany x Freak de l’Afrique
Party, Exhibition
As part of the heimaten Festival for Plural Democracy, MAAYA Berlin is hosting a party featuring an extensive line-up of DJs and an exhibition by Black Archive Germany, curated by Cate Lartey.
Black Archive Germany is a project dedicated to collecting and making visible the diverse forms of expression of African and Afro-diasporic cultures, as well as their everyday realities in Germany. At its core lies the question of how the beauty, depth, and complexity of diasporic life can be represented beyond stereotypes.
Freak de l’Afrique, one of the pioneering Afro-German cultural collectives, has been instrumental in showcasing the richness and diversity of African culture through music, art, and dance. For the festival, Freak de l’Afrique’s collaboration with Black Archive Germany feels like a natural alliance. Together, they amplify marginalized perspectives and bring greater visibility to Germany’s cultural and visual memory. MAAYA Berlin and the heimaten Festival for Plural Democracy warmly invite the general public to enjoy this unique evening of music, art, and cultural celebration.
Music curation by Freak de l’Afrique & Friends: Afrobeat, Highlife, Afrobeats, Amapiano, Coupé-décalé, and more.
