The Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin—dedicated to the convergence of new cinema and contemporary art—returns to Berlin at Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) from 9 to 14 April 2024, following the edition in Paris in November 2023.

True to its vocation of being an event open to all, the entire programme is free to everyone. It includes film screenings, a video exhibition, VR experiences, artist talks and much more. While images saturate our daily lives, it is more important than ever to rediscover our ability to look at the world and understand it through what artists explore, question or reinvent. The opening on Tuesday, 9 April 2024, will take place at Haus der Kulturen der Welt and is also accessible free of charge.

The programme, curated by the founders and directors Nathalie Hénon and Jean-François Rettig, presents a variety of works, including documentary approaches, experimental fictions, videos, hybrid and multimedia forms. Many international artists will be present, and the programme includes 152 works from 52 countries, 90 percent of which are premieres in Germany. Screenings, exhibitions, a VR programme, performances, forums, and panel discussions offer a six-day laboratory of discovery and reflection on contemporary moving images practices.

Les Rencontres Internationales is a co-operation project with Haus der Kulturen der Welt
