Zafraan Ensemble stands for music that reflects today's life, society, and reality in all its facets. The group, consisting of ten permanent members from Spain, France, New Zealand, Australia, and Germany, was formed in Berlin in 2009. The ensemble's performances and programmes are characterized by the combination of concerts with the artistic genres of theatre, performance, installation, and dance. The Zafraan Ensemble has performed at venues including the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Kampnagel Hamburg and Volkstheater Vienna. They also curated the ACUD Sessions and On The Road series and founded the Match Cut Festival. In 2024, they will be part of the MaerzMusik Festival and play at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt.
