Xine Yao is a scholar who theorizes the racial and sexual politics of unfeeling through literary and cultural archives from the nineteenth through twenty-first centuries. They are Associate Professor in American Literature to 1900 and the co-director of qUCL, the queer studies network, at University College London. Recent publications include Disaffected: The Cultural Politics of Unfeeling in Nineteenth-Century America (2021). Yao lives and works in London.
