Robin Rhode (1976, Cape Town) is a multidisciplinary artist who engages in a variety of visual languages such as photography, performance, drawing, painting, and sculpture using quotidian materials such as soap, charcoal, chalk, and paint. Combining individual expressionism with broader socio-economic themes, Rhode’s work engages with illusion, draws on both historical and contemporary references, and bridges elements of high and low art. His work has been exhibited in several institutions including Museum of Modern Art, New York and Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris. His work can be found in public collections worldwide. Rhode lives and works in Berlin.
