Philip Crawford
Philip Crawford (he/him) is a US-American artist. His studio practice combines critical essays, works on paper, video, sculpture, installation, and participatory workshops in a wide-ranging study of popular artifacts and ‘fast images’. In repurposing and defamiliarizing artifacts with cultural and political significance he creates interventions that unsettle hegemonic historical narratives, challenge systems of oppression, and reclaim technologies of power. Recent exhibitions and projects include Papiergrenzen, S27 – Kunst und Bildung, Berlin, 2024 and The Mundane, the Sacred, and the Profane, Sakhile&Me, Frankfurt, 2023. Crawford lives and works in Berlin.
