Pascale Marthine Tayou
Pascale Marthine Tayou is a visual artist. His work is diverse, avoiding fixed media or themes, rooted in his personal experience. His art resists reduction to any cultural or geographical origin, exploring social, cultural, and political constructs. His practice is fluid and spontaneous, centred on travel, encounters, and the individual’s outward journey into the world. Tayou’s sculptures, installations, and videos reflect this ongoing exploration beyond the self. He has gained international recognition through events like Documenta 11 in 2002 and the Venice Biennale in 2005 and 2009. Tayou lives and works in Ghent, Belgium, and Yaoundé, Cameroon.
