Milagro Alvarez Leliebre

Milagro Alvarez Leliebre is an historian and doctoral candidate in history at the Freie Universität Berlin. Her research examines the relations between Cuba and the GDR from the perspective of oral history, focusing on the experiences of Cuban students and workers from 1960 to 1990. She has given lectures in Hanover, Oxford, Cologne and Berlin and was a performer in Rimini Protokoll’s play Granma – Posaunen aus Havanna from 2018 to 2023. Her book Entre la integración y el negrismo received the Premio Calendario in 2021. In 2025, she will be a CRAFTE Guest Researcher at the ZMO. Alvarez Leliebre lives and works in Berlin.
