Maya Watanabe is a visual artist working primarily with video installations. Her work has been presented at institutions such as De Pont Museum, the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, and the Mori Art Museum. Watanabe participated in various art biennials and festivals, including Manifesta 15 in Barcelona, the Bienal de la Habana, and the Gwangju Bienniale. She has also worked as an audiovisual art director on stage productions in Peru, Spain, Austria, and Italy. Currently she is a PhD researcher in the Department of Visual Cultures at Goldsmiths, University of London and teaches at The Gerrit Rietveld Academie. Watanabe lives and works in Amsterdam.
