Lucia Engombe is a journalist. From 2015 to 2021, she served as the director of the public broadcasting company NBC Funkhaus Namibia. Growing up in a refugee camp in Nyango, Zambia, she was sent to study in the GDR along with hundreds of Namibian children. They were promised an education that would mould them into the future elite, ready to govern Namibia after its liberation. In Kind Nr. 95: Meine Jugend zwischen Namibia und der DDR (with Peter Hilliges, 2004) she recounts her experiences. Engombe lives and works in Windhoek.
