Lichen Hamraie

Lichen Hamraie (they/them) is a disabled scholar and designer whose work explores design and technology from the perspective of disability culture. Hamraie directs the Critical Design Lab, a multidisciplinary and international collaborative of disabled artists, designers, and design researchers. Hamraie is currently a Canada Research Chair in Technology, Society, and Disability and associate professor of Social Science at York University. They are the author of the book Building Access: Universal Design and the Politics of Disability (2017), host of the Contra* podcast on disability and design, and a public member of the U.S. Access Board. Hamraie lives and works in Toronto/Tkaronto.
