Laura Coll studied Acting at the Theater School of the University of Chile. After the coup d'état in September 1973, her husband Guillermo Deisler was arrested. The family later reunited in the GDR and then moved to Bulgaria. From 1974 to 1977, Laura Coll worked in a cosmetics factory and then went on to study Nursing in Plovdiv. In 1986, Laura Coll and Guillermo Deisler moved to Halle in the GDR, and Coll started working at the Stadtkrankenhaus until her retirement in 2006. In 2012, she began to build the Archivo Guillermo Deisler, which she handed over to the Centro de Documentación de las Artes Visuales del Centro Nacional de Arte Contemporáneo (CEDOC-CNAC) in Santiago. She lives and works in Santiago de Chile.
