Joelson Ferreira is a master of traditional knowledge, agroecology, and land policies. He has a history of participation in social and political movements such as Movimento Sem Terra (Landless Workers’ Movement), Teia dos Povos (The People's Web), and the Terra Vista Settlement. He is also author of several publications on agroecology, the struggle for land and territory and community economy and he was awarded a doctorate by the Architecture and Urbanism Program of the University of Minas Gerais. He is also visiting professor at the Federal University of Bahia. Ferreira lives and works in Assentamento Terra Vista, Arrataca, Bahia, Brazil.
