Poet, musician, and performer Hinemoana Baker hails from Aotearoa New Zealand, and traces her lineage through her father to the North Island tribes of Ngāti Raukawa, Ngāti Toa Rangatira, and Te Āti Awa, and the South Island tribe of Ngāi Tahu. Through her mother she descends from English and German ancestors. She has lived in Berlin since 2015, when she received a fellowship through Creative New Zealand to live and write here for a year. She is completing a PhD in Cultural Studies at the University of Potsdam  and also works as an educator and facilitator in the field of repatriation of Māori and Moriori ancestral remains from European museums and cultural institutions. Her fourth poetry collection, Funkhaus was translated into German and published by Voland & Quist | edition AZUR in September 2023
