Godfried Donkor
Godfried Donkor (he/him) is a mixed-media artist. His work examines socio-historical ties between Africa, Europe, and the Caribbean through collages and paintings exploring links between the slave trade and boxing, and sculptures reinterpreting Ghanaian adinkra symbolism, a visual shorthand often conveying humorous lessons, proverbs, and philosophies. Donkor studied Fine Art at Central Saint Martins and African Art History at SOAS. Recent exhibitions and projects include People of Colour: Black Portraiture Now, National Portrait Gallery, London, 2024; and Battle Royale II, Gallery 1957, London, 2023. Donkor lives and works in Accra and London.
