Francisco Vidal is an artist, best known for paintings and drawings that combine bold colour and pattern on handmade paper or canvas, often assembled into installations. He explores diaspora experiences, hybrid identities, and the lasting impact of colonial histories. Recent solo and group exhibitions includes: Contemporary Landscapes x Beyond the Line, AKAA, Paris, 2019; and Constellations: a choreography of minimal gestures, Museu Coleção Berardo, Lisbon, 2019. In 2002 he earned a BA from School of Arts and Design, Caldas da Rainha, followed by his MFA from Columbia University, New York City in 2010. Vidal lives and works between Lisbon and Luanda.
