Eliana Alves Cruz is a journalist, writer, and screenwriter. She has written novels, children’s books and a collection of short stories, and has contributed to over fifteen anthologies. Her first novel, Água de barrela (2016), won the Prêmio Oliveira Silveira award from the Fundação Cultural Palmares/Ministério da Cultura and received an honourable mention in the Thomas Skydmore Prize. Her short story collection A vestida: Contos won the Prêmio Jabuti literary prize in 2022. She was also the screenwriter for the series Anderson Spider Silva, which was nominated for an International Emmy Award.
