Eli Cortiñas is a multidisciplinary artist who studied media art at the KHM in Cologne. She works with and against archives, seeking to recover unseen and suppressed voices, especially in relation to women’s histories, by reframing, re-editing and reconfiguring audiovisual archival material to create speculative narratives that reveal and repair this void. Her video- and spatial installations have been shown internationally at museums, biennials, and film festivals. Since 2022 she has been Professor of Media Art at the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig. Cortiñas lives and works in Berlin and Leipzig.
