Darlina Sáenz is a singer and cultural bearer of bullerengue, actively involved in its preservation and transmission through community initiatives and cultural projects, and is widely recognised as one of the tradition’s key contemporary voices. Daughter of the bullerengue singer and composer Eloisa Garcés, Sáenz learned bullerengue through close transmission from elder women in her community, with her mother as her primary guide. Following her mother’s passing, she assumed the role of lead singer in the group Palmeras de Urabá. Today, Sáenz and her sister Arlenis Garcés are the main voices of the bullerengue group Cantares de Eloa. Sáenz lives and works in Necoclí, Colombia.
