Cristian Betancourt

Cristian Betancourt is a percussionist and composer. His artistic practice combines classical percussion with Latin American folk rhythms and explores the interface between academic and popular music. As a soloist with Los Pitutos, he has performed with the Munich Philharmonic, the Bilkent Symphony Orchestra and the Orquesta Filarmónica de Santiago, among others. His composition El Camino was premiered by the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra. He works with various chamber orchestras, is a member of Los Pitutos and Sonqo Trío, and teaches at the Musik- und Kunstschule Stendal. Betancourt lives and works in Berlin.
