Christine Schoenmakers

Christine Schoenmakers is a consultant for inclusive and intercultural education at the Federal Foundation for the Study of the Communist Dictatorship in Germany. She completed her PhD in 2014 at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg and was head of the project office for the coordination of the federal programme Youth Remembers (SED Dictatorship funding line) at the Foundation from 2020–21. Her publications include the graphic novel Hinter Mauern. Eine Jugend in der DDR (Behind Walls. A youth in the GDR, with Martha Friedrichs, Hana Hlásková and Simone Veenstra, 2018). Schoenmakers lives and works in Berlin.
