Abrie Fourie is a South African artist, curator and educator. He studied at Tshwane University of Technology and the Africus Institute for Contemporary Art. His photography explores space, sign and self—absence and presence. He has been the co-founder and artistic director of Modern Art Projects South Africa since 2005. Selected projects include: Passage—a song., Scharaun, Berlin, 2023, Musée de la Musique Georges OUÉDRAOGO, Ouagadougou, 2024; and Soil Soul, Experimental Gallery, Cornell University, Ithaca, 2021. Recent publications include: Seeing with a Listening Ear—Layers of Feedback (2025). Fourie lives and works between Berlin, Germany, and Richmond, South Africa.
