aaajiao (Xu Wenkai) (1984, Xi’an, he/him) is a media artist, blogger, activist, and programmer whose work examines digital identity, data processing, and internet phenomena. His practice reflects a dystopian awareness and engages with themes like censorship and the societal impact of social media. Recent exhibitions include 目 Chine - A new generation of artists, Centre Geroges Pompidou, Paris, 2024; NFT Poetics of the Immaterial, Centre Geroges Pompidou, Paris, 2023; and Deep Simulator, Castello di Rivoli Museo d'Arte Contemporanea, Turin, 2020. aaajiao lives and works between Shanghai and Berlin.
