When Beto arrives at the run-down cocoa plantation in Brazil’s deep south, he faces a difficult task. To save his family from ruin, he must reclaim the valuable art prints that his father sold to the rich plantation owner forty years ago. But this means negotiating with the hostile wife of the now-blind art collector and their daughter. Based on a short story by Austrian author Stefan Zweig, who lived in Brazilian exile from 1940 until his suicide – a film about aesthetic and moral values and their power to change one’s perspective.
