Invisible Waves

Thailand, The Netherlands, South Korea, Hongkong 2008, 115 min. subtitles

"Invisible Waves" is a celebration of the diversity of the Pacific, with a Pan-Asian cast of stars, a Thai director, and a cameraman who gained world fame in Hong Kong; a language mix of Thai, Japanese, and broken English; and a plot that begins in Macao and ends in Thailand. This violence-laden thriller follows the flight of the contract killer Kyoji, who escapes on a cruise ship after murdering his own lover – actually his boss’s girlfriend – at his boss’s behest. On a passage full of curious occurrences, he encounters the mysterious beauty Noi. While trying unsuccessfully to overcome his sense of guilt, Kyoji gradually becomes aware of a new threat. Nominated for the Golden Bear at the 2006 Berlinale.
