Inspired by the true story of a notorious Brazilian con man, the director tells the story of a man whose audacious inventiveness and chutzpah take him all the way to the Jet Set. “VIPs“ was awarded the prize for best film at the Festival do Rio 2010.
Toniko Melo (*1960 in São Paulo) began his career as director, camera operator and video editor for TV productions, documentary films and video clips for various artists, including Caetano Veloso. He directed numerous award-winning advertising films, at home and abroad. “VIPs“ is Melo’s first feature film and it picked up four awards at the Festival do Rio 2010.
