We are launching a new cultural programme featuring special activities designed to arouse curiosity about the cultures of the world. The under-18 generation is expressly invited to creatively participate in the Open House, but adults will also have the opportunity to get to the bottom of cultural questions. Thanks to new partnerships, HKW is also reaching out to new target groups in Berlin. The New York programme marks the beginning. Each of us carries in our mind a picture of the Big Apple – but how does this change when we open ourselves to images, music, people and ideas from this great metropolis? And what can in turn be learned about Berlin?

In a one-week workshop, youth from Kreuzberg will take part in a creative project on the subject of urban space. The participants will gather impressions, respond to their observations using various artistic means, and make their own marks on the cityscape. The Berlin contingent includes the artists Thurit Kremer, Jürgen Kuhn, Stefan Horn and Beatriz Lanchas. In cooperation with the Center for Urban Pedagogy.
