This comprehensive research, artistic translation, and educational project sheds light on the cultural exchange programs, artistic collaborations, and political solidarity initiatives between Cuba and the German Democratic Republic (GDR). The project aims to explore the historical context, key events, prominent figures, and notable achievements in various fields, to foster dialogue and the exchange of ideas among witnesses of this period and a wider audience, and to explore the significance of these historical interactions in shaping cultural and political narratives. Interviews with individuals who were directly involved in or witnessed the exchange programs and solidarity efforts are conducted and their personal experiences, perspectives, and recollections documented to capture valuable firsthand accounts and provide insights into the significance and impact of these experiences. These histories and stories are then translated by artists, performers, filmmakers, and writers and shared with school children.
