Akhmat Biikanov is an artist. He creates portraits and tableaux that evoke notions of communion and estrangement. In his distinct style, one can discern references to his Balkar heritage, as well as Fayoum portraits, Persian miniatures, and Byzantine mosaics. Biikanov lives and works in Berlin.
