Mother and daughter - and two masterly concepts of beauty: the one drawing on the knowledge of a centuries-old Chinese canon of forms, the other living on a process of radical renewal, on emancipation from given dominance.

Luo Lili is a master of classical dance. Through the perfection and gracefulness of her movements she commands unbroken aesthetic authority. Her daughter Gaoyan Jinzi, in contrast, battles against her with explosive movements and individual emotions. At issue here is the way we deal with cultural memory. The performance unfolds its true suggestive power: "When they both discover similarity in difference" unfolds "a moment of happiness," writes Katrin Bettina Müller in the taz newspaper. The dance dialogue is spurred on by Liu Sola, composer and singer of contemporary music. This performance gives visitors another opportunity to see Jue, the surprising hit of IN TRANSIT 2004.
