Desert Blues, A Musical Journey into the Heart of Mali

Music Documentary, D: Michel Jaffrennou, France / Belgium / Mali, 2006, 60 min, original French version with English subtitles

Michel Jaffrennou’s “Desert Blues” brings together musicians from various ethnic groups in Mali, taking them on a journey deep into the Sahara Desert and along the Niger River. It’s a musical tale with the sounds of Habib Koité, Afel Bocoum or the women of the Tuareg group Tartit. A symbiosis of breathtaking landscapes and insights into the lives of the people who live in the country.
