Abdelwahab Meddeb, the “cosmopolitan with Islamic roots,” probes the causes of the cultures of resentment in Islamic and European thinking. He sketches the hate of Islam, but also examines myths and taboos. A poet, novelist and essayist, Meddeb is director of the “Cultures of Islam” program on Radio France Culture. He sparked fierce debate in 2002 with his book The Malady of Islam.
